Free Live Webinar · Wednesday, August 26
If your business spent on research and development in 2022–2024, tax law changes likely cost you credits you were entitled to. Those credits can still be claimed by amending your returns — but the windows close one tax year at a time, and 2022 is already expiring. Join Monika Diehl, Arvo's Principal, Tax Technical, with Chris Gates of TriNet and Emily Osborne, Arvo's VP of Sales, for a live walkthrough of what changed, who qualifies, and how to claim what you're owed.
Can't make it live? Register anyway and we'll send you the recording afterward.
You can claim missed R&D credits by amending a return until that year's statute of limitations closes. There's no program deadline — just each year's window, closing in turn.
Why this matters to your business
Starting in 2022, businesses could no longer deduct R&D costs in the year they were spent — the deduction had to be stretched over five years or more. The result: higher taxable income and surprise tax bills for companies doing exactly what the R&D incentive was designed to encourage. Many stopped claiming credits altogether. Here's the same business under both sets of rules:
Simplified illustration at a flat 21% rate. The R&D credit applies separately in both scenarios — deduction and credit stack.
In 2025, Congress permanently restored full same-year expensing of domestic R&D. And the credits you missed in 2022–2024 can still be claimed on amended returns — for every tax year whose window remains open. That recovery is what this session is about.
On the agenda
Who qualifies
Any U.S. business resolving technical uncertainty by developing or improving a product, process, software, formula, or technique through trial and testing may qualify. That includes work you probably think of as just "doing the job":
Not on the list? That's what the four-part test is for — we'll walk through it live so you can map your own work onto it.
How recovery works
Arvo reviews your 2022–2025 returns and models the year-by-year benefit — likely outcome and worst case — before any commitment. No cost, no surprises.
Arvo amends your open years to claim the credits you missed, with defensible study documentation behind every claim — end-to-end, or alongside your existing CPA.
Arvo handles processing through to the finish line — correspondence, timing, and any temporary balances — so the refund lands without you chasing it.
Amending returns can occasionally trigger IRS penalties. For taxpayers in good standing these are typically abated, and Arvo prepares and administers those requests on your behalf.
See the number first
Arvo's estimator turns your R&D spend and income into a year-by-year picture of what recovery could look like for your business. Bring your result to the webinar and ask Monika about it live.
Why Arvo
Arvo's platform is built directly from the IRS Audit Techniques Guide, with a real expert reviewing every study — end-to-end, or alongside your existing CPA. TriNet has partnered with Arvo to bring that practice to businesses like yours.
Your presenters
Monika leads Arvo's tax and specialty credit services — the substance behind every credit, calculation, and study. She specializes in helping small businesses navigate complex tax regulations, including R&D credits and the recent Section 174 changes.
Chris leads partnership strategy at TriNet, connecting TriNet customers with vetted specialty partners like Arvo — and he'll cover what the partnership means for your business.
Emily works with owners day to day — fit, process, and getting you to a real number. She'll walk through what the no-cost feasibility review looks like and how to start.
Before you register
Business owners and financial leaders — especially TriNet customers — whose companies spend on developing or improving products, processes, or software. If you're not sure that describes you, that's exactly what the session will help you figure out.
No. Arvo runs the process end-to-end or works alongside your existing CPA. The goal is to add the benefit, not disrupt a relationship that's working.
The webinar is free. And before you commit to anything, Arvo models your benefit at no cost — likely outcome and worst case, year by year — so you see the number first.
That's the most common reaction — and it's usually wrong. No lab coats required: qualifying work spans software, manufacturing, engineering, food and beverage formulation, agriculture, and more. We'll walk the four-part test live so you can map your own projects onto it.
Yes — register and we'll send you the recording afterward so you can watch on your own schedule and share it with your CPA or leadership team.
